NTSs Initial Defensive Tactics course is for you! This course has been developed specifically for the private security industry and puts protective agents on the right path toward making intelligent and informed use of force decisions by arming them with a fundamental understanding of the science behind the use of force and the selected safe and simple to learn and apply tactics, as well as the law, policy, and site protocols that affect its use. This 18-hour course is segmented into three 6-hour (3 days) training blocks, with the first six hours being delivered online.
Key Topics: Use-of-force systems, to include control continuums, human factors, high-risk human factors and their implications for protective agents, use-of-force legal and liability issues, federal and state law surrounding use-of-force and detention, action vs. reaction, visual science and time science, energy factors and their implications, and the components of acceptability that underpin defensive tactics/use-of-force systems, handcuffing, escort position and joint lock control, pressure point control tactics, defensive counterstrikes, chemical irritants, and weapon retention and disarming.
Blended Model: Upon successful completion of the online component, each participant will have 30-days to complete the final two days of the course.
